PRIVACY POLICY

Effective date: April 21, 2026

This is our current policy. We have written it in plain English. Your own counsel may want to review it for your specific situation.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sharpen collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English. When you see formal language, we mean exactly what it says.

The short version: we collect what we need to run the Service. We do not sell your data. We do not sell or share the content of your diagnostic conversations. You can delete your account at any time.

1. What We Collect

Information you give us. This includes your email address, your name if you provide it, billing details for paid subscriptions, and anything you share in the diagnostic conversation about your plant (for example, headcount, revenue range, pain points, or operational details). If you email us, we collect the contents of that email.

Information collected automatically. When you visit sharpenmfg.com, our hosting platform automatically logs basic technical information: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you view, and timestamps. This is standard web server behavior and helps us keep the site running and secure.

Usage analytics. We use Vercel Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the product is used in aggregate. This is privacy-friendly analytics that does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites.

Information we do not collect. We do not collect government IDs, financial account details other than what is required to process payments, health information, or sensitive personal data. We do not profile users for advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

(a) provide the Service, including generating your personalized roadmap and making guide and template recommendations;
(b) process payments and manage subscriptions;
(c) email you your roadmap if you request it;
(d) respond to questions and support requests;
(e) improve the product in aggregate, for example by understanding which guides are most downloaded;
(f) keep the Service secure and prevent abuse;
(g) send you operational emails about your account, the Service, or material policy updates.

We do not sell your information. We do not share the content of your diagnostic conversations with anyone other than the service providers strictly required to deliver the Service (listed below). We do not use your plant data to train our AI models.

3. Third Parties

Running a modern web product requires a handful of vendors. The ones we rely on are:

Anthropic. The diagnostic conversation is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI via their API. Your messages are transmitted to Anthropic so Claude can respond. Anthropic processes this data subject to their own privacy commitments. Anthropic has publicly committed that business API traffic is not used to train their models.

Vercel. Our hosting provider. Vercel runs the Sharpen website and APIs. They see the same technical server logs any web host sees (IP, headers, etc.) subject to their privacy policy.

Stripe (when enabled). When we turn on paid subscriptions, payments will be processed by Stripe. Stripe sees your card details; we do not. Their privacy policy governs their handling of that information.

Resend. If you request an emailed copy of your roadmap, we use Resend to send it. They see the email address and the email content.

We will update this list if we add or remove a vendor. We do not share your information with any third party other than what is required to run the Service or to comply with a valid legal request.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage entries to run the Service, such as remembering that you have started a diagnostic session or tracking your progress through a guide.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not run cross-site tracking. We do not integrate with ad networks. For that reason, we do not display a cookie consent banner.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the information we hold about you. Email us and we will provide a copy in a reasonable format.
Correct information that is inaccurate. Email us and we will fix it promptly.
Delete your account and data. Email us and we will close your account and delete your information, except where we are legally required to retain it (for example, tax records).
Export a copy of your roadmap and any plant information you have entered.
Object to any processing you think we should not be doing, and we will explain our basis or stop.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@sharpenmfg.com. We respond within one business day.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it to run the Service or as long as the law requires.

Account information and roadmaps are retained while your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal information within 90 days, unless a legal obligation requires longer (for example, retaining financial records for tax purposes).

Technical server logs and aggregated analytics data are retained for up to 12 months for security and operational reasons.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. Our site runs over HTTPS. We store credentials and API keys using industry-standard secret management. Our infrastructure is hosted on Vercel, which operates SOC 2 compliant platforms.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach that affects your information, we will notify you by email and take appropriate remediation, consistent with applicable breach notification laws.

8. Children's Policy

Sharpen is a business tool for adults. It is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, email us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

Sharpen operates from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from your jurisdiction.

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another region with specific data rights, you have the rights described in Section 5 above. Reach out and we will support your request.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top and post the new version here. Material changes will be announced to account holders by email.

11. Contact
